WHEN SHOULD I NOT HAVE A PREGNANCY MASSAGE? If you are under midwife led care and into your second trimester then a massage is more than likely going to be ok for you but there are some reasons why a pregnancy massage may not be suitable. I have listed a few below which would require written consent from your GP before we can proceed with the massage, if you have any concerns please give me a call.
Diabetic Mother or Gestational Diabetes
Cardiac Disorders
Previous problems in Pregnancy
Incompetent cervix
Severe Anemia
Abnormal Fetal Heartbeat
Decrease or absence of fetal movement (make sure you seek medical advice immediately)
If you are in your first trimester then you must wait for your 12 week scan before having a massage
WHAT TO EXPECT We will go through a short consultation form just making sure a massage is right for you and then I use a specialised couch cushion that allows you to lay on your front, making the massage the comfiest and most relaxing it can be.
